Expert Insights & Tips: Discover the Power of LIMS-Plus for Water and Environmental LIMS/Water Testing Labs/I got great feedback and learned of opportunities for improvement in LIMs+!

I'm excited to share some highlights from my recent visit to Water Testing Labs of Maryland (WTLMD). We deployed LIMs+ in January, 2024. They are less than 90 days into using it. Let's hear how it’s going and what needs improvement!

  • Automated Reports: LIMs+ automates reports which can be a huge time-saver for labs like WTLMD. LIMs+ creates the reports and emails them to the clients in bulk. It creates the file that gets submitted to the DEP, known as CMDP in Maryland. But, during our visit, we discovered that WTLMD was still sending some reports to the county, one by one. This process consumes time but also increases the risk of errors. We need to solve for this. The simplest approach would be to add the county email address in bcc to the client report email. We are solving for minor details. This is a great achievement!
  • COC Enhancements: WTLMD no longer has to worry about creating Chain of Custody (COC) forms. LIMs+ does that for them. I learned there are certain unique details about each sample required on the COC forms. Information such as the pump house code for a public site, or any special notes about the sampling location. BEWARE OF DOG! The collector must have the information necessary to complete the job while on-site. We're working with WTLMD to redesign the COC forms and incorporate these extra details. LIMs+ has all the information. It needs to be available when needed most.
  • Customer Billing: LIMs+ offers the option to integrate with billing and accounting systems. WTLMD has yet to take advantage of this feature. It is a costly integration. As a result, paid and unpaid samples need tracking before releasing the results. This becomes particularly challenging when including samples in the CMDP file. We brainstormed a solution: implementing a simple flag system within LIMs+. We devised a strategy to sort samples to the bottom of the CMDP file with the unpaid flag. WTLMD will release samples once the client pays. They will avoid having to create the CSV from scratch for unpaid samples, like they used to for EVERY sample.

We're committed to helping WTLMD achieve complete efficiency in their processes. Their input is invaluable in shaping LIMs+, like all our clients. I’m excited to continue working with them and other labs to get the most out of their LIMs+ experience. I'm thrilled to be a part of their journey and can't wait to see what the future holds for our partnership!

Constant improvement. Period.

Hi, I Am Mike Gaumer

CEO of LIMs+

Labs come to us who are grappling with inefficient and outdated processes that hinder their ability to focus on value-added tasks. Manual completion of orders, paperwork, and lack of automation are major pain points, leading to frustration and low morale among teams.

What do you get?

By implementing LIMs+, our customers experience a paradigm shift in their operations. They regain valuable time previously spent on manual tasks, allowing them to focus on strategic initiatives and growth-driving activities. You will notice a boost in morale, innovation, and client satisfaction within the organization.
